Anvil sponsors the Organic Exchange Sustainable Textile Conference

WHAT: Approximately 250 international representatives will meet in Seattle, Washington, USA October 20]22, 2009, to attend the 2009 Organic Exchange conference "21st Century Sustainable Textiles: A Deeper Look at the Key Issues" ( www.organicexchange.org). Participants will include those involved in making key decisions on sustainable textiles including; brands and retailers, manufacturers, farmers, academics, NGO's, and certifiers. Attendees will learn about and discuss best practices, emerging issues, and strategies to improve sustainability of textiles and to maximize the return on investment. An exhibit area will demonstrate and profile the best of sustainable fibers and technologies available. Organic Exchange will host a separate one]day seminar focused on organic cotton on Tuesday, October 20.

Ed Thomas, Global Apparel Senior Materials Director of Nike Considered, will provide insight on sustainable product innovation during his keynote address. Other speakers include: Andy Murphy, expert in market strategy and research and development with World Wildlife Fund, will discuss natural resource reduction; and Lee Fromson, Vice President of REI will conclude the conference by discussing why transparency is essential in today's global business environment.
