Anvil Customer Notice re: Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act

Montag, 10. November 2008

Dear Valued Customer:

As you may be aware, the recently enacted Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act of 2008 (“CPSIA”) requires manufacturers and importers to certify that the products they sell meet all applicable standards covered by the Consumer Product Safety Act applicable to such products. Anvil is committed to the utmost compliance with certification standards under the statute which are applicable to its products.

Under the Flammability Standard for Apparel set forth in 16 C.F.R. Part 1610, garments made of fabrics weighing more than 2.6 oz. per yd. are exempt from flammability testing. Anvil manufactures and sells blank shirts made of fabric weighing over 2.6 ounces per square yard. Therefore, for all products manufactured on or after November 12, 2008, Anvil will provide a conformity certificate that indicates that its products are exempt from the flammability testing. For all fleece and terry robes styles, the conformity certificate will reflect the required information regarding flammability testing. All conformity certificates will be made available electronically and a url directing you to the location of the certificate will accompany each shipment.

For shirts made for children 12 yrs. or under, other standards apply related to lead content. The lead content of the blank “youth” shirts sold by us will be certified by Anvil. For your additional information, certification of the lead content of the ink on any surface coating or phalate content of any appliqué or decal will be required by the embellisher.

If we manufacture merchandise bearing your trademark or brand, we will be required under the new rules to include your name and address as a “private labeler” on our certificate.
We encourage you to visit the CPSC’s website for additional information:

Please feel free to contact us should you have any questions regarding the safety of our products. We will keep you posted of any changes in the CPSC’s application of the rules as they come to our attention.

Very truly yours,
Sincerely,
Anvil Knitwear, Inc.
