Oeko-Tex® Issues 10,000th Certificate of 2009 to Anvil Knitwear

Greensboro, NC - Monday December 07 2009

"Oeko-Tex certification is an important part of our overall product safety and integrity strategy," says Anthony Corsano, Chief Executive Officer of Anvil Knitwear. "By making sure our products do not contain harmful substances, we are demonstrating our commitment to our consumers, our customers, our workforce and the communities in which we live and work. We are honored to accept the 10,000th Oeko-Tex certificate on behalf of all the people who interact with our products."

"Anvil's leadership in textile safety and eco-friendliness is clear," says Dr. Manfred Wentz, Senior Policy Advisor with Oeko-Tex and newly appointed Adjunct Professor on Sustainability at the College of Textiles at NC State. "Given Oeko-Tex's rapid growth here in the United States, it is very fitting that our 10,000th certificate of the year be awarded to a U.S. company that is doing so much to make the textile industry more sustainable."

Oeko-Tex will present the 10,000th certificate to Chris Binnicker, Anvil's Vice President of Textiles, at its upcoming event, "Sustainability: Impacting Policy and the Future of Apparel and Textiles", to be held on Monday, December 14, 2009, 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. at The State Club on Centennial Campus at North Carolina State University. The event is part of the popular "Insight on What's Next" textile and apparel industry roundtable discussion series that Oeko-Tex sponsors with Textile Insight Magazine. "Sustainability: Impacting Policy and the Future of Apparel and Textiles" will feature an expert panel who will share with textile and retail executives and media representatives their unique and critical insights into how sustainable practices are changing the nature of the apparel and textile industry.
