Introducing Tracking Labels in all Anvil® Youth Apparel Styles

Wednesday August 05 2009

Dear Customers:

As you may know, the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA) requires that manufacturers of children’s products (i.e., products primarily intended for children 12 years of age or younger) must place permanent marks on their products starting with goods manufactured on or after August 14, 2009. Section 103 of the CPSIA further provides that the tracking label must contain information that will enable the ultimate purchaser to ascertain the manufacturer or private labeler, location and date of production of the product, and related information such as batch number or other identifying characteristic. The information must be on the product and on the packaging.

Additional information about the tracking label requirement is available on the Consumer Product Safety Commission’s website located at:

http://www.cpsc.gov/about/cpsia/cpsia.html.

Anvil is committed to be in compliance with all CPSIA requirements and therefore will be inserting a tracking label in all Anvil® Youth Styles (Style nos. 990B, 420B(Organic), 705B, 2184B, 923B, 905B, 479B, 490B (Organic), and 4600B) manufactured on or after August 14, 2009. The tracking label will initially be located on the wearer’s left back, bottom hem. In addition, we are developing a companion website for consumers to track their t-shirts online.

If you are a private label customer, we will offer you the option of adopting our tracking label convention or we will work with you to develop a customized solution based upon our tracking methodology and your compliance needs.

Please contact your private label liaison or Anvil’s Compliance Group at 212.476.0300 for additional information.

Best regards,
